Roxy Pro, Hawaii

Surf’s up and be ready for Van’s second event in its Triple Crown of Surf. Also, it’s nice to take note that this would be the only women’s ASP event that would be held in North Shore when December comes. Thus, boys and girls alike would be out there to see some water action.

Here, you should expect ledgey, fast and powerful waves on the run that come from the northwest portion of the bay. The most popular break would be West Peak at Sunset, which often catches the uninformed and out of position, causing big trouble in the waters. Surf here would usually begin at three feet and hold as big as they could get.

One thing you’d love about the speedy and ledgey peaks is that they would give you the opportunity to have an excellent high-performance canvas for surfing. The beach can give out experiences of body-torqueing carves, heroic tube-riding, and death-defying wipeouts.

However, you should be wary since surfing here is described by many as schizophrenic. Even on the smallest days, the spontaneity of the beach keeps surfers alert. And most likely, larger days would let you experience intense hold-downs and free reef tours. You may also see some kamikaze surfers flailing about in different direction once in a while. Plus, if that would not suffice your cravings, then you could always play with the sharks. What’s the best thing to do after surfing?—Thank Huey for sparing you!

Interestingly, Roxy Pro was first held here in 2006 and would be held here again this year. Additionally, events held here are considered to be 6-star events. Thus, you would only get to see the best among the rest in action!
