This ninth event of the world surfing tourney is a drive away from French border. Spain welcomes surfers with the world famous hallow barrel surf tempting anyone to have fun in the waters.

This stage can be critical to make a champion among the lines of excellent surfers. The spot is not that easy to find although it is only a few kilometers from the Bilbao industrial district. Surfers will only see signs around four kilometers proximate to the venue but getting there is really worth anybody’s time.

The waters of Spain lives to the country’s tradition of bull chase. Left hander waves can get monstrous but allows that playful attitude to discover what you and your surf board can do on a wave of two feet up to fifteen feet. The rule is simple— be really playful and the barrel will eat and pound you to the rocks and sand.

The event welcomes surf lovers to a colorful show of sight and sound as locals embrace the visitors with their lively culture. Surf fanatics can feast on hundreds of tapa bars along the coast from which you can see bobbing boats and a beautiful horizont. The people are very friendly and are more than willing to share their gossips and slice of local delicacies with anyone.

The winner of this stage receives the trophy in a traditional hat and is given honor by riding the shoulders of locals. The ride will be short since they will throw the surfing champion back into the water.

The stage has been cancelled for a few times due to the no show swells. Nevertheless, this stage will make or break a dream to become the tours overall winner.
